OpenText is a Canadian information management software company founded in 1991 in Waterloo, Ontario, and listed on both NASDAQ and the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker OTEX. It is the largest enterprise software vendor headquartered in Canada, selling content management, security, analytics and business network products to large organizations and government bodies.

The company grew almost entirely by acquisition, absorbing Documentum from Dell EMC, Guidance Software, Recommind, Carbonite and, in 2023, Micro Focus for roughly six billion dollars. After the board replaced long-serving chief executive Mark Barrenechea in August 2025 and appointed Ayman Antoun in April 2026, OpenText turned to pruning non-core assets, selling the eDOCS document management business to NetDocuments for 163 million dollars in a deal that closed on 12 January 2026.
