Brightflag

Brightflag is an enterprise legal management software company founded in Dublin in 2014 and acquired by Wolters Kluwer in June 2025. It now trades inside the Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory division, which puts a publicly listed information services group behind it while the Brightflag brand and platform continue to be sold and supported under their own name.

Ian Nolan and Alex Kelly built the business around applying machine learning to outside counsel invoices instead of manual billing guideline review, and grew it from a single Dublin office to further sites in New York and Sydney. Backed by Frontline Ventures, Tribal VC, Sands Capital and One Peak, Brightflag reached roughly 27 million euros of annual recurring revenue by April 2025, shortly before Wolters Kluwer agreed to buy it for 425 million euros in cash.
